Who We Are...

Type-Right is a business support service, often hired as an “outside computer department” by companies and individuals needing periodic help with text-oriented projects. Clients do not pay for employee down-time or unneeded office space. For example, an attorney who needs only 10 letters a week does not need to hire a part-time typist -- just drop letters in the fax machine, and finished files are returned. An organization might publish a quarterly newsletter or an annual directory.

Type-Right is an alterative to a temp agency because (a) customers don’t pay for unused or minimum hours; and (b) your projects are handled by a familiar assistant who does not require an explanation for the same job each time it comes in.

Either directly or through corporate printers and medical education companies, we have completed projects for Con Edison; Pfizer; TD Waterhouse; Shiseido Cosmetics; WJFF Radio Catskill; The Society of Maritime Arbitrators; Astra-Zeneca; New York Life; and many others.

Type-Right is a member of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce and the International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA).

Van Morrow, President of Type-Right, Inc.

Van Morrow, Owner Type-RightAs a speed typist from age 10, Van organized Type-Right in 1984 while working as a computer programmer for a Wall Street bank. College friends started asking him for help with resumes, examination materials, school reports and questionnaires using his home computer. He began to realize the potential of an office support service, and enrolled in a Continuing Education certificate program at New York University, learning about small business. Word of mouth added some neighborhood business to the list, and what was once “work on the side” eventually grew to a full-time business, with a commercial space and more equipment.

Van now operates Type-Right from his office and home in Sullivan County, providing transcription and typesetting services.
